“Things weren’t real to you.  They were just raw material for you to reshape to tell a story you liked better.  You could never just listen to a boy play guitar, you’d have to turn it into a poem, make it all about you.” Janet Fitch, White Oleander

“But the beginning of things, of a world especially, is necessarily vague, tangled, chaotic, and exceedingly disturbing.”  Kate Chopin, The Awakening

“So it goes.” Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five

  3. By the use of the language of sorrow I had for the time being obliterated my sorrow – so powerful is the charm of words, which for us reduces to manageable entities all the passions that would otherwise madden and destroy us. – Gene Wolf.

As such, no first step was ever taken without extraordinary reluctance. The effort grows the greater the more substantial the quality of the intellect. Always more questions than answers down avenue that is sought.

I’ll be peering around your blog later day – probably after lunch, before workout – despite the fact my doctor grounded me from running.

  12. Writing (reading) poetry is therapeutic and ‘cheap’ only if we learn to become our own best friend and befriend our fiends…but no worry anyway, we’ve left romanticism …

  13. Can you sling it or what? Like one of those people the camera must adore…whichever lens, whatever angle. Words follow you…like a new puppy..or a sudden and hungry tiger.

And there’s a feast, or phantom here, which I think is more feel than figure. Regardless.

It’s big fun reading your work, and I always admire a wordsmith who can cant and sport shades.

    Regards,
    Doug
